I-25 IMPACTS

Crews shifted travel lanes on I-25 towards the median to begin work on the outside lanes. There will be three travel lanes open in each direction between Comanche Road and Montgomery Boulevard during the daytime. The speed limit in the work zone has been reduced to 55 mph. NMDOT BRIDGE INSPECTIONS: BIG-I OVERNIGHT RAMP CLOSURES

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is conducting inspections on four bridges at the I-25 and I-40 interchange (the Big-I). This work is not part of the I-25 Improved project, but due to its proximity, it is important to share.

This work will require overnight closures of various ramps starting March 13 through March 16. Individual ramps will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. Detour information will depend on the ramp closure and is listed below. Drivers should anticipate heavy travel delays, plan ahead, and follow posted signage overnight.

- Thursday March 13, 2025, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
SB I-25 to WB I-40 Ramp
- Friday, March 14, 2025, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
EB I-40 to NB I-25 Ramp
- Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
SB I-25 to EB I-40 Ramp
- Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

TYPICAL OVERNIGHT I-25 LANE CLOSURES DETAILS

During the week, up to two travel lanes on I-25 will close at 8 p.m. each night and reopen by 6 a.m. each morning, in time for the morning commute. Crews will close one lane at 8 p.m. and another lane at 10 p.m., keeping one lane open in each direction. All lanes will be reopened by 6 a.m. each morning.

During the weekend, travel lanes on I-25 will close at 10 p.m. each night and reopen by 9 a.m. each morning. Crews will close one lane at 10 p.m. and another lane at 11 p.m., keeping one lane open in each direction. All lanes will be reopened by 9 a.m. each morning.

COMANCHE ROAD NIGHTLY CLOSURES

Comanche Road at I-25 will be closed nightly as early as Monday, March 17, through Monday, April 7, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for crews to perform utility work in the area. During these closures, traffic will be detoured via Candelaria Road and Montgomery Boulevard. Drivers should expect delays, plan extra travel time, and follow posted detour signs.

COMANCHE SB ON-RAMP LANE CLOSURE

Crews began work in the area of the southbound I-25 entrance ramp from Comanche Road. To ensure safety during this work, crews closed the left lane of the southbound frontage road between Comanche Road and Candelaria Road. This work started in November 2024, and will continue through March 2025.

Lanes on Comanche Road at the interchange will be shifted to accommodate the work zone.

Comanche Road at I-25 is reduced to one lane in each direction during this first phase of work to accommodate bridge reconstruction.

LANE CLOSURE ON MONTAÑO ROAD WEST: OF THE I-25 INTERCHANGE

Crews will be installing temporary concrete and adjusting lane striping in the area of eastbound Montaño Road and southbound I-25 Pan American Frontage Road.

Two right lanes on eastbound Montaño Road will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night starting on March 17 through March 22 to accommodate this work. Business access will remain open during the lane closures. Drivers will still be able to turn right onto southbound Pan American Frontage Road.

Lanes on Montgomery Boulevard at the interchange will be shifted to accommodate the work zone.

I-25 FRONTAGE ROAD LANE CLOSURE

Crews closed access to Yale Boulevard from the southbound Pan American Frontage Road and to one business driveway on the southbound Frontage Road between Yale Boulevard and Comanche Road. Businesses can still be accessed by turning right on Comanche Road and by using Alexander Boulevard. Impacted driveways closed in early March 5, 2025, and will remain closed through early May 2025.

I-25 FRONTAGE ROAD LANE CLOSURE

The northbound and southbound I-25 Frontage Roads will be reduced to one lane each between Montgomery Boulevard/Montaño Road and Jefferson Street to begin work on the bridge over the North Diversion Channel.

The left lane on the northbound and southbound I-25 Frontage Road are closed through August 2025. The left lane on the southbound I-25 Frontage Road are closed through August 2025 to accommodate this work.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Lane closures on I-25, ramps, frontage roads, and Montgomery Boulevard will usually happen during off-peak times (outside of rush hours and on weekends).

Drivers can expect uneven pavement on the roadway and should use caution while traveling through the work zone.

Construction will occur both day and night, up to seven days a week. Our team will keep this page up to date with specific activities that may impact you.
